Hatch/Door Sensor

This sensor used on a door in combination with a pressure mat is an excellent alarm scheme for an open boat. The pressure mat is carefully hidden in front of the protected door. An intruder will likely step on the pressure mat before he opens the door setting off the alarm siren. The alarm will also sound when the door is opened in case the intruder advoids the pressure mat.

ANSWER TO QUESTION:

1. Why use Door/Hatch Sensors with a boat alarm?

Door/Hatch sensors are used on doors, hatches and moveable windows to trigger the alarm when a magnet is pulled away from the sensor. These sensors are very common in alarm systems. The main cabin door on this boat is protected with a Door/Hatch sensor.

ANSWER TO QUESTION:

2. How do they work?

The Door/Hatch sensor consists of a sensor and a magnet. The sensor is mounted inside on the door, window or hatch frame. The magnet is mounted on the door, window or hatch cover. When the door, window or hatch is opened the magnet is pulled away from the sensor which triggers an active alarm causing the siren to howl.
