Pressure Mat Sensor Q & A

Why use a Pressure Mat Sensor with a boat alarm?

The pressure mat sensor provides boat security after an intruder has boarded your boat. Place the pressure pad sensor under a rug in front of a cabin door. When the intruder steps on the rug the alarm siren will sound. The pressure mat sensor can be disconnected and stowed when not in use.

The pressure mat sensor is fully compatible our boat alarm. The pressure mat  sensor is 18″ x 24″ . When storing the pressure mat sensor do not roll the mat across the ribs. Getting the pressure mat wet does not cause harm to it.

The picture below shows rug rolled back exposing the pressure mat sensor.

 How does it work?

The pressure mat sensor is a normally-open alarm circuit. When an intruder steps on the pressure mat closes the alarm circuit and triggers the siren. The pressure mat is wired to alarm zone 3. CAUTION: If wires to the pressure mat are cut the alarm will not trigger the siren. The wires must be well hidden or placed so that they are not accessible to an intruder. The pressure mat should never be used as the only alarm sensor.

Is it difficult to install?

No. It is easily installed with ordinary hand tools. Refer to the installation manual for details.
